Dania Hamilton elected MVP and Best Scorer |

CASTRIES,
St. Lucia, March 29, 2009.- Dania
Hamilton, the captain of St. Lucia,
was elected as the Most Valuable
Player of the Norceca-B first round
tournament of the 2010 FIVB Women’s
World Championship.
Hamilton was
a key player in both attack and
leadership while helping to carry her
side to the victory in the competition
and the right to advance to a second
round tournament next May 24-31 in
Barbados.
Hamilton was
also de the best scorer of the
tournament edging by one point 35-34
her teammate Samantha Mann, who made
the ideal team as best blocker.

CASTRIES,
St. Lucia, March 29, 2009.- Host St.
Lucia won the only ticket available
for a second round berth of the 2010
FIVB Women’s World Championship by
defeating Antigua & Barbuda in the
decisive match of the Norceca B first
round tournament.
The St.
Lucians recovered from losing the
first set and controlled the match the
rest of the way to win 22-25, 25-13,
25-15, 25-13. With the triumph the
local girls advanced to the Norceca-D
second round in Barbados on May 24-31
where they will meet hosts Barbados,
Jamaica, Haiti, Bahamas and Cayman
Islands.

St. Vincent and Grenadines defeated
Grenada in straight sets in the match
for third place in the FIVB Women’s
World Championship first round Norceca-B
tournament.
In a match between winless teams, the
two squads battled hard for the first
two sets but at the end the girls of
St. Vincent and Grenadines relied on
their better physical shape to win
25-21, 25-23, 25-13.

CASTRIES, St. Lucia, March 28, 2009.-
Dania Hamilton and Samantha Mann led
the well balanced attack of St. Lucia
in route to a 3-0 victory over St.
Vincent and Grenadines in the second
day of the 2010 FIVB Women’s World
Championship first round Norceca B
tournament. The score was 29-27, 25-8,
25-14.
The host team now will play Antigua &
Barbuda on Sunday evening in a match
for the championship and the ticket to
the second round.
Hamilton and Mann scored 14 and 11
tallies respectively, while Emma Edgar
and Laura Francis added 8 points
apiece. Brenda Joseph-Pinder led the
losers with 7 points.

Antigua & Barbuda improved its record
to 2-0 in the FIVB Women’s World
Championship first round Norceca B
tournament after the straight sets
victory over Grenada in the first
match of Saturday. The score was
25-13, 25-13, 25-14.
The Antigua & Barbuda team took
advantage of the frequent mistakes of
their opponents and now looks in a
collision course to meet St. Lucia in
a do-or-die match on Sunday.

Three players scored in double
figures and host St Lucia enjoyed a
jump start in the FIVB Women’s World
Championship first round Norceca B by
obtaining a clear triumph over Grenada
in straight sets Friday night.
The local team, favourite to win the
competition, showed good coordination
in its game and much better physical
condition than the rival team while
winning by score of 25-15, 25-14,
25-9. Emma Edgar had 11 points and
Dania Hamilton and Samantha Mann each
contributed 10 tallies for the winning
squad.

Antigua & Barbuda beat St. Vincent &
Grenadines in straight sets in the
first match of the FIVB Women’s World
Championship first round Norceca B
tournament.
Since the start of the match the
superiority of the winners was evident
and they went on to grab the win by
score of 25-12, 25-15, 25-7. The girls
from Antigua & Barbuda outscored their
opponents 11-2 in the serve category.
Jenel Lafong was the best scorer for
the winners with 9 points, Teera
Charles and Sharon Payne each had 7
tallies and Carolyn Christian and
Shauna Isaac contributed 6 apiece.

hours before the first whistle in the FIVB
Women’s World Championship First Round
Norceca B, the coach of host St. Lucia
expressed his optimism about the chances
of his squad in the four-team
competition.
Florian Combie stated that his main goal
is to test his players against the
stronger competition they would face in
the next round of the world event.

First Round Norceca B, gets underway
tonight and the playing facility was
pronounced ready by the members of the
control committee after a whole day of
work along with the local organizers.
The preliminary inquiry of the four
participating teams will take place on
Friday morning at the Palm Haven Hotel..

favorite in the FIVB Women’s World
Championship First Round Norceca B to

Beausejour Indoor Facility in the
capital of the country.
Currently ranked 21 in Norceca, the
local team will be playing against
representatives from Antigua & Barbuda
(27), St. Vicent and the Grenadines
